Team Leadership Skills for Narcotics Board Officers in Ghana.

During February I had the privilege and pleasure of working with Narcotics Officers in Ghana. They were leaders of teams and made the most of 3 weeks of classroom time to discover their leadership style and create new ways of managing and leading their own teams. They focus on drugs enforcement, preventing importation and exportation, educating young people about the challenges and risks involved in taking drugs and work with offenders/users to help them break the cycle of addiction and crime. They experience shortage of resources, equipment and staff and yet they approach their work and the opportunity to be

Linking Neuro Leadership and Mindfulness

I am struck by the obvious link between the Science of how the brain works in the context of being the best Leader you can be, whilst also being Mindful and all that goes with that. I have just come across this article about the 5 ways to nourish your brain. Being the best you can be as a Leader means you surely have to be Mindful and continually ‘Nourish’ yourself. this reminds me of Stephen Covey’s comment that Human Nature is four dimensional: Body, Mind, Heart and Spirit. Here is a simple 5 minute meditation exercise that you could

My Best for My Team… take part in the new workshop.

My Best for My Team Build trust in the Team, engage with each other properly, share, create and innovate. How great could that be? At Me the Leader we are blend Principle-centred Leadership and team building with the science of how the brain works. How can you expect to be the best that you can within a team, if you don’t understand the basics of Neuro-science? Get the chemical mix right by understanding what happens when we are presented with a stimulus….do we move towards it and embrace it…or do we ‘freeze’ or ‘run away’? I can think of so

Leader in Me programme

Currently delivering the Leader in Me programme in schools and Colleges in the UK. This is a very similar approach to leadership as my own Me the Leader Core Programme…its just a coincidence that the programmes have very similar titles. I suppose it stands to reason that they would? This principle-centred programme helps young people to take control of their own lives and show real Leadership from the Inside-Out. It is based on the work of Stephen Covey and his principle-centred views on how we can develop ourselves to be truly effective. As well as delivering the programme to 13-15

Where does Motivation come from?

Having just returned home from delivering a Leadership foundation Course to Qatari Police Officers in Doha, I ask myself this question about motivation. Who can Motivate you, or me, to be the best we can be? The reason I ask is that after reflection on this last 2 weeks of leadership training, my training partner and I faced very different approaches from the students, to the learning opportunity they had. The course was part of a legal requirement for them to attend in order to achieve their next promotion. So they had to be there…but they didn’t have to participate.

Mental Health Awareness for the Police

Looking forward to helping front line Officers raise their awareness around Mental Health and Mental Illness in those people that they deal with day-to-day. This is an important area of training to help Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers to recognise and deal empathically with people they come into contact with on a daily basis. Really pleased to be working with the Police in this vital area…Mental Illness is so common and yet still attracts stigma and ignorance. Police Officers have to show real leadership every day in this area as they try to deliver a great ‘customer experience‘.
